November Ipsy-UHM WHAT

So last week I darted for the mailbox, triumphant to have received what I was waiting for so long (after I took like, two naps because this fall has kicked up allergies I forgot I had and I think I’ve died a little as the months go on); my Ipsy bag. So I admit, I do like this, I receive some pretty neat things in this bag-and even added a three dollar add on to this bag. That being said, I was a little hesitant about this month’s bag, and is it sad to say I both love and hate it all the same? Like, I hate animal print, and somehow I like the bag more than one of the products I received?

But, before we get to complete thoughts, let’s go over this month’s bag.

This months theme was “Wild”, and the bag itself was actually something I don’t loathe like I said, I really do dislike animal print-probably because a majority of the things I received as a kid was zebra print, and even then I didn’t like the fact it made feel like a snooty-boujie person (nothing against animal print, but it’s not my personal style). The quality of the bag is what I expected last month’s bag to feel like, which is basically-decent quality. The zipper had a tastle which was a cute touch. Overall, the bag was okay-not something to be stoaked about, but I did like it, and it provided a good travel bag for a weekend trip I took.

Sorry for the poor camera quality-but anyway, here’s the list of items I received in the bag. Take a guess at the product that I ended up hating.

MAC CLEANSE OFF OIL – I did add on this cleanser, which was smaller then I expected,  (I probably should have read more about it before adding it on), but it gave me an idea of the product, and I found it to work really well, so I will most likely be buying the full product, when I get little extra money, because even a little bit goes a long way, and I go through make-up wipes like nobodies business. I would suggest this-just don’t purchase the sample, it’s not worth the price. (I paid 3 dollars, in case anyone was wondering, the tube’s good for maybe three uses).

Gigi Gorgeous Less is More (Ipsy Exclusive)- Right, this is definitely a product I’ll use. The tube was actually a decent size, which I can appreciate, and it was a nice color. Um… don’t close your mouth after you put it on though, I kept having to wipe it off my teeth, and I’m not sure that’s practical. Also, Less is More isn’t just a name it’s a warning-don’t put a ton on your lips, a little goes a long way. (My bad). All that aside, like I said, it’s a nice color, it has a luxurious feel, and I will be using it.

Color Club Nail Polish– I actually was so STOKED to receive this product. I’ve been into doing my nails-even if I do it poorly, but it gives me something that I enjoy doing.

Can I just say, WHO KNEW how tragic this nail polish was?

So, first off, the polish has a pleasant smell for Nail polish, and the color was okay, when I saw the list of things I was receiving, and then I opened the package, and then I put the polish on, and then I took a picture, I came up with several different colors. I thought it was going to be a rasberry color -it’s not-, and then when I grabbed a picture of it looks like…that, and then I put it on and it was red? Anyway, the point is, that was already like a…eh. So I go through and the next day I’m getting ready for church, have a little extra time, let’s try some nail polish.

SIR.

WHO GAVE IT PERMISSION TO BE SO-SO, ANNOYING?

It was very liquidy-feeling, it kinda spilled everywhere, and to get anything off my fingers so I could go to church with remotely normal-looking nails (because the polish didn’t work with me), I went through four cotton balls and so much nail polish remover that my cuticles flipped out and started to appear in a tyrant, and I was left with red around my fingernails that basically STAINED my nails, no matter how much soap and water I used. To give you an idea, I didn’t get a picture of my nails the days following, but up until yesterday, I looked like I had taken up gutting animals in my past time. And the photos I have for today, which is approximately five days later, this stuff is still stuck on my hands, and I might have to cut my pinky nail, just to get the nail polish out from underneath it (I have NO idea how it got there). And I would like to say “Oh it’s my fault I don’t know how to use it”, and I am clumsy, but nail polish should never make this much of a mess, or look bad. Thank God I didn’t have anywhere important to be, or else that would have been pretty embarrassing (I’m not embarrassed by chipped polish, in my head it shows just how busy I can be. However, the color did look like blood, and rimmed my fingers nails, and had embedded into the skin surrounding my fingers so…).  So no, I don’t personally suggest the polish. It was quite a problem, I’ll still link it, in case you do like it, because for all I know, I could have had a fluke or something. I don’t know. All I know, is that I have a full-sized product of polish I can’t use until I cosplay or Halloween.

Murad Essential C Moisture Broad Spectrum– Can I just say, how much I like Murad products? I could never afford a full price product, this one itself is like, 65 dollars, but the products really are quality, and they do feel nice. TIt went on smoothly, and came in enough time, because my skin has been painfully dry (I’ve been layering on the acne products), and it was nice to have something counteract it. If I had one complaint it would be how small the product is. I don’t expect anything big, but I don’t want a doll-sized tube.

La Chlrosi Face Mask– As I write this, I’m wearing the mask/ giving it a try. I really wish they had sealed it better, because as soon as I punctured it, the seal ended up in the mask, which was frustrating, but anyway. I like a good mask, it’s kind of one of those fancy things that makes me feel extra. I like this one, it has a nice(ish texture). I will say it has a gritty feeling, which is strange because there are some parts that are incredibly smooth feeling. The mask also has a perfume smell, like a nice scented laundry detergent (I still stand by my previous claims of being a whole NOOB to make-up and all). It does have a make-up undertoned smell which, I think is inevitable, but definitely a bit strange to get that sort of smell while you smelling a rosey-laundry smell. In regards to how it feels-it definitely has a stiff feeling. I didn’t coat my entire face (I probably should have). Anyway, update in another fifteen minutes.

Update (literally a minute later)- On the website, it’s classified as a Mud Mask. EXCUSE ME. I never would have guessed. I suppose I should have as it’s clay, but that’s beside the point. I WISH dirt smelled this good.

Update- Fifteen Minutes in; I’ve just knocked some of the mask into my eye (accidentally, clearly), and it’s very powdery. I’m going to take this off now.

Final Thoughts- My skin just looks more red and agitated than usual. I’m not sure that was a good idea. And usually, my skin feels better, but right now it feels…tacky? It’s weird. Will I use it again? Yes. If somebody brought it for me, I’d use it, but if I passed it in the story, I wouldn’t give it a second thought, or spend my own money on it.

Pixi By Petra (Eyeshadow)– EXCUSE ME.

WHO GAVE THIS EYESHADOW PERMISSION TO BE SO PIGMENTED? This eyeshadow, this stuff down below.

I never knew how much I needed to get some quality make-up. The thing is, it’s actually fairly cheap for something that nice. I’ve been experimenting with the eyeshadow, trying out darker-eye shadow looks. I just…it’s gorgeous man. I do suggest it, and I had swatches, but the pictures were bad, and the eye shadow pallet is somewhere in this room (I know I keep mentioning the trip and being cryptic-it’s not that cryptic, it was outside, and I did a whole lot more then usual-including panicking about being on a trip-long story. The point is in my tizzy before I left, I’ve forgotten where I put it). That being said, if you need some nice eyeshadow with a pretty shine, I would suggest this, I’m actually a big fan.

Final Thoughts-

I’m honestly disappointed with this bag. Nothing was as exciting as I’d liked it to have been. I’m just…yes there were some good parts (the eyeshadow), and Murad, and then two products that I don’t care about, and the one I loathe. I don’t know, I give this one 5 out of 10 ginchies. I feel like they missed the mark with these products, at least for me. But I want to know, what are your thoughts on this month’s Ipsy bag? Are you subscribed to Ipsy? What were your favorite parts of the bag? I’d love to know!

Let me know down below!

Stay Ginchy,

So…Ipsy?

Well, (1)

So one night, I was feeling a spending spree surging through me, and after watching one of my favorite YouTubers (Alexandria Ryan), I decided, hey, what the hex, let’s give that bad boy a try.

So I did, and here’s…what came in the mail.

For starters; the bag. It was…nice? Where I work (a thrift store), we receive occasional Ipsy bags and they seem to have nice quality, but whether it be the sequence or the way her face was printed, it definitely felt like some dollar quality stuff?

WHAT CAME IN THE BAG…

Nomad Highlighter…

I mean, this stuffs nice, I still have no idea what to do with Highlighter, it seemed, to be nice, online it runs for roughly 17 dollars, which is already more than what I paid for the bag. It was a lovely color, (Kiss of Sun in Balmoral Beach). It seemed to swatch pretty well, I did use it when getting ready…not properly-but then nothing’s going to look proper because I’m cheap and I REFUSE to buy a new bottle of foundation even if I am noticeably paler (I didn’t think that was possible, I thought I reached all levels of pale after being out of the sun for two years, but my skin decided otherwise-ANYWAYS).

Ipsy’s Betty Boop Eyeliner.

I DON’T KNOW HOW TO USE THIS.

It makes a mess (not specifically this one, just all eyeliner), and I can’t get anything to go on my eyelid besides eyeshadow, but it seems cool so we’ll see.

FIRST OF ALL.

This picture flipped itself, and I can’t fix it.

SECOND OF ALL.

This “It Cosmetics CC+” was something I really liked? It mixed well enough with my skin, and honestly it smelled good? I’m used to make-up smelling, well, make-upy, but this stuff smelled like the quality fruity shampoo/hair product stuff they sell in stores. So, big win. I’d honestly use it as perfume.

SO.

I have a confession to make.

I may or may not have…lost some of this stuff after I opened the bag, and took the photos, so I didn’t get to try this particular product-HOWEVER, I was excited to have this, and a few Youtubers I watch did say this stuff was really nice.

And let’s be real, Winter and Fall is actual murder on my skin.

So anything to help this mess (Acne), is a win-win.

Except Burt’s Bees.

And Neutrogena.

Those quite working and now my face doesn’t know what to do.

On Animal Jams, I was a Panda, and then they got rid of my account after they got rid of Pandas, so now I’m not anything at all.

On Animal Jams, I mean.

But anyway, I’ve read reviews where they say this doesn’t fit an adults face, and this concerns me, because I am 90% certain that my head/face is slightly larger then most. That being said, I’m excited to try these with my mom (they sent two), because I’ve been looking for some fun face-masks for a good self-care day. And here they are, so it’s really a win-win.

Overall Thoughts:

The concepts cool. The customer service is GREAT, they’re really helpful and friendly (I was concerned about my order on something, and the response was fast and reassuring). The products, I’m not sure how they equal over 50+ dollars, though I’m still new to makeup, and I just googled the Murad and just realized where most of the money comes from, that aside (HOLY ACTUAL COW).

UPDATE: I’ve just googled the IT cream.

SIR HAVE SEVERAL SEATS.

TAKE THEM ALL.

Because with money like that you could actually buy a movie ticket.

Maybe two.

I’m retracting what I said, I see where they calculate the money.

Anyway, the concept for Ipsy? Fun, it’s like a gift to yourself (unless you regift samples, in which case-same, so, a great gift for others), not to mention it’s a little exciting to receive packages, though I have been doing a lot more of that after I’ve developed a reclusive state in which I binge watch Youtubers and eat food that’s not OKAY.

The product quality is over-all pretty excellent, again, I…did personalize the bag so that I received eyeliners and highlights, but I’m not actually sure HOW to use them, no matter how many tutorials I watch.

The bag was a slight disappointment, it felt cheap, but then, I wouldn’t expect it to be like a money wallet.

Overall, it was exciting, and if you have a little extra money to spend, the surprise is definitely worth the twelve dollars.

So; final score:

95%

I was raised to be a tough grader.

What do you want from me?

So have you tried Ipsy? What did you receive, and what are your thoughts? I’d love to hear! 20190413_235924_00008132386945157892677.png

An Introduction to a New Series

Todays post is Sponsored by FabFitFun, make sure to get your box, today!

Add a heading (5)

I HAVE ACNE.

Clearly.

I, more specifically have Cystic Acne.

I was going to write a list about the annoying things with acne-but, to be honest, I feel like it’s been done. I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s a beautiful addition, because, for me, I don’t enjoy it. I can tell you, that something such as that should not define you as a person, and doesn’t take away from your already standing beauty and worth.

That being said, I was trying to think of a phenomenal post to take it’s place.

I thought, maybe, I could do what helped my skin, but like most things, that changed, and eventually, I found certain products to be making it worse over time.

And then I decided, maybe, just maybe, I should get a little serious about acne. So I started thinking; what would be an interesting topic?

Well, let’s start off with the basic information on acne.

-Roughly 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 25 develope acne (DermNetNZ, Medical News Today).

-Acne has varying signs and symptoms, and the reasons behind why they happen.

-Mayo Clinic lists four major reasons for acne;

*Excess oil production

*Hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells

*Bacteria

*Excess activity of a type of hormone (androgens)

-Acne appears more commonly on the upper body but is not limited to your facial area.

And with all this information, I started to realize; well, if acne’s so common, then how come all of the influencers I see don’t seem to have the same problems? Their skins remarkable, and granted, it might be make-up, but when the make-ups off, and they’re putting it on, what makes it…glow? What makes their skin so…perfect? If you will?

And then I realized, that Science literally has given us a reason for Self Care, and acne isn’t the only area.

This is where I want to start a new series-the scientific importance behind self-care, and why it’s important.

I’m excited to explore this, and see where this series takes us!

So, look forward to Friday’s, because they’re going to be very interesting, as we explore why you should be taking care of yourself; and how!

(I kid you not you’ve just experienced a written version on how I concoct an idea, because I didn’t have an idea about this until I concluded it).

Before I go though, I want to say, today’s post is sponsored by FabFitFun. I’m genuinely excited about this sponsor, as I find it corresponds quite well with today’s post, and this series. FabFitFun is a subscription box that offers quality items in health, beauty and wellness. With products worth well over 200+ dollars, I think you’ll find this box to fit some of your self-care needs. Thankfully, they’ve provided me with a link for you to use, and if you use the code Fall10, then you will get ten dollars off your first box!

Back to School Lurnin’ Looks (Collab)

So school has or is starting back for most of us lernin’ children, and getting ready in the mornings can be…complicated. If you’re like me, you sleep in until thirty minutes to go. I don’t have attention to waste on a morning routine.

Or on anything, really. But that’s beside the point; it can be hard to find what to do, in a short amount of time-so, here I am, to give you everything you’ve ever asked for…in hair and make-up.

BUT before we continue, I want to say this blog is in collaboration with Bayance, and Aditi, both of whom, I highly suggest checking out. These girls are cool as hex, and this is a back to school COLLAB, so by checking out their blogs, you’ll unlock other Back To School tips, on how to survive making yourself look fashionable, and awake-when you’re actually half asleep.

Make-Up

Listen, I can’t do make-up. My foundation never matches my neck or actual skin tone (being half Asian has some flaws). I also have no balance, and my eyes usually end up…looking a little bit wonky.

I digress, the point is, Make-up; it can be complicated.

But it is a useful thing to have again, the art of confidence, the grace.

The ability to change your face. Maybe make yourself look like a celebrity. Get out of school.

I don’t have help for that, but I do have basic make-up ideas for my girls who are a little extra, and my girls who like to keep things natural.

Now, naturally, I want to state that you should use your foundation, and whatnot, that you find best for YOUR personal skin. I also want to say that this took some work to find some quality make-up ideas.

Au Natural

Simple, clean, probably takes ten minutes or so, and you can’t die with an eyeliner pen.

Again, pure, clean, natural. And my favorite, no death by eyeliner.

Now this one does have a bit more to it, but still embraces the more casual/natural look.

I do want to say that when it comes to this type of make-up, its definitely a little less stressful, and shouldn’t take as long. The outcome will naturally vary, but a general break down is…

Eyebrows:

Eyebrows are filled in ever so slightly, and with the natural shape of the brow.

Eyes:

Stick with the more natural eyeshadow. Browns, Beiges, blacks, and greys. To brighten it up a bit, do a light shimmery color, or spice it up with some highlight. Mascara should be your go-to, and if you feel like it, go a little daring with your eyeliner. In the picture above, she has rather thick lashes and a wing. Eyeliner is suggested to be kept at a minimum, don’t fly away with your makeup.

Cheeks: Highlight should be done in moderation, and bronzer or blush should be used in moderation.

Lipstick:

Keeping it neutral, go with a gloss, or just plan chapstick. Keeping the colors toward colors of your natural lip shade will help to give a guideline.

A Little Bit Wild

Sometimes, in make-up, you might find yourself feeling years-and, that’s great! Trying to keep bright colors that might really pop off your skin tone, is an excellent idea. Having it flow with your outfit will help complete the elaborate look.

When working on bold looks, having it flow, or focusing on specific areas are definitely options. As you can see, the eyes are the focus on this one, but it still draws attention to the rest of the look.

Eyebrows might be more detailed, and lipstick is more common in these looks. It doesn’t have to be the way you go, but matte lipstick is definitely a popular choice.

In Other Words…

Going a little bit funky on your make-up is far from bizarre, and can definitely express yourself in ways you verbally might not be feeling at the moment.

Eyebrows:

Eyebrows are to have distinctive shapes, and a bit more defined. They are more prominent in the way they are filled in, and of course, as stated, in shape.

Eyes: Consistently, Eyes are the center of focus, finding the right type of glue on (or even magnetic)eyelashes would help improve, or lengthening/thickening mascara. Go with bold colors that enhance the skin, but also offer a slight contrast. For eyeliner, try going for a colored liner, or a thick winged black liner. Going under your eyes will help to enhance the look.

Cheeks: Go with a strong highlight, and maybe even contour. Use more noticeable blush, or even spice it up with glitter.

Lips: Choosing a more subdued color is highly suggested, but not necessary. Matte or lipglosses lip glosses that have different colors are commonly used to bring consistency into the look, without overpowering it.

HAIR

So I’m a hair girl.

I have scrunchies up the wazoo, it’s a signature thing for me.

Mainly because I have two go-to hairstyles:

The half Up

(Not me but because my photos are problematic).

And of course, the high ponytail. Why, you may ask?

Because if I can’t allude energy, at least my hair will, and so help me if my hair will look like a cheerleader on an Energy drink.

The point is, I take pride in my hair and its many styles, and I have some styles if that’s your fancy, too.

So I give you, there versatile hairstyles, no matter what make-up you choose.

BONUS

A little bit classy, but casual all at once.

So, for hair, a few extra bonus tips:

So, with all these tips, I hope you find yourself ready to take on (or continue) with the school year in half-asleep confidence. What are your go-to styles and make-up looks? I’d love to know!

FACE MASK CHRONICLES PART 1

I can’t believe I missed Writers Square. I have missed every day EXCEPT that day. Hex, I didn’t even miss it, I JUST COMPLETELY FORGOT MY BLOG EXISTED YESTERDAY.

So to all you avid Writing Tip Readers, I bid you my deepest apologies, and promise that it will return this upcoming Monday. As for now?

Let’s get ready for some Life Style Shtuff.

So first of all, I want to make it clear, I’m not a lifestyle type of person. I have a life, but my style is something to be questioned. However, because I’m a good blogger, and I genuinely enjoy making quality content that nobody asked for, let’s do a review.

Recently (as in within the past six months), I ordered myself three face masks from Target, all pertaining to companies that work with people who struggle with acne. If you didn’t know this about me:

I struggle with Cystic Acne. It’s bad.

Not to mention, if I have to go anywhere, I wait until five minutes until we have to go, before I decide that “Hey, maybe I should get dressed instead of watching YouTube videos”.

Now, all this information aside, I decided that multiple people had suggested face masks for people who have acne, and you know what, let’s try these face masks out. However, following that, I ended up purchasing ANOTHER face mask, and about halfway writing this, I decided that let’s make this a chronicling journey, of finding face masks.

So let’s get started.

Burts Bees Detoxifying Charcoal Sheet Mask.

I took a blurry photo and didn’t realize until I threw out the package, so here’s a group photo of the first three I ordered.

First of all, I already had a strong disdain when I stupidly opened the mask on my bed, and had it spill on my blanket, however, the mask itself was just…disappointing.

Now, understand that this was my first face mask, and I freak if somebody TOUCHES my face, so you can imagine how freaked I got over something miniscule as a MASK touching my face. It was cold, and not very enjoyable.

All that aside, I tried hard to keep an open mind, however, I found it a bit complicated, considering you could clearly tell that the mask didn’t fit-which is weird because I have a sizable face, and it still had excess stuff. Was the mask tested on a pumpkin?

Anywhozzles, after I left my room following the ten minutes, and freaked my brother out, and joked about it with my mom, I headed to the bathroom to peel the thing off and wash my face.

Now, I realize now I forgot to take a before photo for these, but just picture my face with the optimum redness.

Beautiful, I was a work of art before the mask. (Also, please ignore the chapped lips three months ago version of me had forgotten that Chapstick existed for a reason).

Following the mask, I didn’t notice to much of a change, but I must say, my skin sometimes feels old and crusty even if I wash it, and I woke up the next morning feeling surprisingly refreshed, so total over view?

I think that the mask is a great concept, however it is very messy, and isn’t made to fit a face properly. Do I think it necessarily detoxifies? Maybe if I did it more then once, but considering I didn’t want to blow through my paycheck on face masks when they were having a Sims 4 sale, I decided I probably shouldn’t. Do I suggest this mask? Not really, if your cool with having gabs and ridges when you put the mask on, and excess, well…anything, is your jam, then this is the mask for you. Other then that, the only thing it did was make my skin feel more awake-but to be honest doing a better job at cleaning my face might just help with that (Before you say anything, I do clean my face, it’s just some days I’m very distracted, and tired, so I don’t). So total rating: Two out of Five Ginchies.

Burts Bess Hydrating Sheet Mask with clay sage

When I think about it, I think Burts Bees might actually just be using pumpkins for their face masks, or my face is just really, really small, because it did not work…

AT ALL.

This mask was a little less refreshing, and more just annoying. It also smelled like the other mask-like soap.

Not to mention, looking back at these photos, I realize I had no idea what I was doing, and, to make things worst, I look a mess, and what the sugar cookies is with the lighting?!

Okay, rant aside I don’t have much to report about this one, because it didn’t fit, AT ALL, and was even more messy then the previous one. I know they’re suppose to be chillin’ in their own grease, but I mean, come on, when I put it on my face, I mean it’s for my face, not my pants. So for total rating: One out of Five Ginchies. I’m sorry, I love Burts Bees, and they make some bomb stuff, but I don’t think that face masks are cutting it.

Here’s to hoping that the upcoming face mask review (tune in next Tuesday), for some more face masks review (Neutrogena and Bath and Body Works).

Have you tried these face masks? What are your thoughts? Do you have any face masks you suggest I try? I’d love to hear!

Remember to live your life like the gincy story that it is!

Skin Care Update; Week 2

Right, remember when I came up with this idea? I genuinely regret it. For two reasons:

One-I don’t like taking pictures

Two- It genuinely doesn’t make since.

HOWEVER.

Just to talk about skin condition, let’s discuss it’s current state.

My face has developed more unpaying tennants, one right on the edge of my nose, and one right at the bottom of my lip.

I don’t get it.

Well, actually I do.

It’s been hard to keep up with the “no dairy” thing when I live in the South, and work at a cáfe where Cookies are our best sellers.

Giant, chocolate chip, sometimes lemon, cookies.

Yummy.

Not to mention it’s been a wild and wacky week consisting of yours truely stepping outside of her comfort zone.

Ice Skating, socializing out side of personal obligations, going to a gun range. All kind of a world wind, really, and it’s loaded stress.

Specifically socializing. I haven’t really out effort into meeting people since I was bullied in Second grade, so I think I might be developing alot of stress acne.

That being said, let’s take a look at this week’s routine.

We’re going to the basics until I can order some bare mineral items.

Take a moment to notice the face masks.

This week’s lifestyle post is going to be wild. I’m reviewing some face face masks, two of which are from a more “all natural” brand, and the other being one usually meant for acne.

How will it affect my skin? Let’s find out.

That aside, it’s going to be one of those weeks, so let’s hope and pray it all dies down, and my skin figures out how to kick the extras out.

Do you struggle with acne? If so, what do you use? Have you used these face masks before, did they work? I’d love to hear!

Thanks for reading, and make sure to live your life like the ginchy story that it is!
